It’s a celebration of the half marathon distance (13.1 miles) and those who love to complete events of that distance. The official 2009-2010 challenge period will be defined as starting on August 1, 2009 and ending on May 31, 2010. The challenge kick off celebration will be at the Heels and Hills and Him Half Marathon on September 27, 2009 and the challenge finish celebration will be at the Heels and Hills Half Marathon on May 2, 2010. This time frame perfectly corresponds with the high season of running in Texas weather.
- A “Love the Half” technical shirt, available for pickup at Heels and Hills and Him on Sept. 27.
- Members who complete one of the 2 Heels and Hills half marathons (Heels and Hills and Him Half on Sept. 27 or Heels and Hills Half in on May 2, 2010) and at least 3 other half marathons (the other Heels and Hills event counts towards this) will receive free Love The Half socks, which can be picked up at the Heels and Hills Half on May 2, 2010 towards the end of the season.
- This will highlight upcoming half marathons across the state, various pieces of half marathon news, and celebrations of recent finishes and accomplishments by participants.
- All finishes of events with a length half marathon or longer completed in Texas will be published on the Love the Half website and in the Love The Half newsletter.
- Invitations to race weekend meet-ups and trips out of Dallas for Love The Half members.
The cost to be a 2009-2010 Love The Half member is $30. Register TODAY …
Although the challenge has begun, you may join at any time during the challenge season and all events of a half marathon or longer distance done during the challenge season (including before your registration date) will count. But of course, the sooner you register, the sooner your accomplishments can start showing up here on the website!
